Resonance Effects

- Resonance curves are obtained by plotting the signal strength attained by applying an AC wave-form of a given frequency at either 250 cycles (left plot) or 5,550 cycles (right plot).
- At resonance (fAC = fion), the frequency is most efficient at de-exciting the ion axial motion to the central plane (z=0) of the orbitrap, and corresponds to the point denoted below in the de-excitation/re-excitation plot (from the previous slide)
